Connect a custom domain to your Minecraft Server
Players can join with a name like play.example.com instead of an IP and port. You can use your own domain, or a free CraftLands subdomain.

Buy a domain/connect a domain to Cloudflare.
Go to DNS Records. Create an A Record and if your server port is not 25565, create a SRV Record as well.
Domain Wildcard. The Asterisk
When defining the subdomain for the record, you can use * (the asterisk) to let the DNS Record reference any and all subdomains under your main domain. E.g. play.craftlands.host, bald.craftlands.host and everything else. This does not mean you should use it as it can complicate your setup when scaling (an example would be javing a website, a forum, a store on the same domain)
Option 1: Use Your Own Domain
Create an A Record
On your DNS provider's page, add an A record, for either the root domain or a subdomain.
Root domain (example.com):
- Type: A
- Name:
@ - IPv4 address: your server IP (for example 203.0.113.45)
- TTL: Auto
Subdomain (play.example.com):
- Type: A
- Name: your prefix (for example
play) - IPv4 address: your server IP
- TTL: Auto
Click Add Record when you are done.
Create an SRV Record
If your server does not run on the default port 25565, or you do not have a dedicated IP, also add an SRV record so players do not need to type the port:

Click Add Record.
Option 2: Use a CraftLands Subdomain
- 1In your server panel, go to Network → Subdomains.
- 2Click Create Subdomain.
- 3Under Domain, pick a main domain (for example
fastserver.host). - 4In the SubDomain field, type the name you want (for example
smpforsmp.fastserver.host). - 5Click Create Subdomain.
That is it: the domain now points at your CraftLands server. DNS changes can take a few minutes to spread.
