What is Minecraft Bedrock server hosting?

It is a server running Bedrock Edition, the version of Minecraft that ships on Windows, iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. One Bedrock server lets all of those platforms play the same world together, which a Java server cannot do on its own.

What is the difference between Java and Bedrock hosting?

They are separate builds of the game with separate server software and separate worlds. Java is the PC-only edition with the deep mod ecosystem; Bedrock is the cross-platform one that console and mobile players use. A world does not move between them without conversion, so pick the edition your group already plays before you order.

Can Java and Bedrock players join the same server?

Not natively, but a proxy such as Geyser paired with Floodgate lets Bedrock clients connect to a Java server. It works well for vanilla-style play and less well once heavy mods are involved. If your group is mostly console and mobile, a straight Bedrock server is the simpler answer.

How much RAM does a Bedrock server need?

The calculator on this site works from a 4 GB base plus 0.2 GB per player, so ten players land at 6 GB and twenty at 8 GB. Bedrock is lighter than Java at the same head count, so those figures hold even on a built-up world. Raise the tier from the panel if chunk loading starts to lag.

Can console players join my Bedrock server?

Yes. Xbox, PlayStation and Switch all connect to Bedrock servers, though consoles add third-party servers through the friends list or a DNS workaround rather than a direct address field. The panel shows the address and port you need for each method.

Yes. Bedrock uses behaviour and resource packs instead of Java mods, and you upload them through the file manager or SFTP the same way. Server software such as PocketMine and Nukkit is supported if you want plugin-style extensions.
