What Is a StoneBlock 3 Server?

FTB StoneBlock 3 starts you inside solid rock with no sky, and every room you use has to be dug out of it. Its manifest lists 223 mods on Forge 40.2.34 for Minecraft 1.18.2, with Java 17 as the runtime Feed the Beast ships it against. The world generates biomes in concentric rings around spawn, which is why FTB describes the Nether and the End as never more than a pickaxe away.

The quest book pushes you from a cobblestone generator into real industry: Mekanism, Thermal Expansion, Applied Energistics 2, Refined Storage, Create, Powah, RFTools and Industrial Foregoing, with Botania, Blood Magic, Ars Nouveau and ProjectE covering the magic route and Avaritia parked at the end of it. Compact Machines hides your uglier builds, FTB Ultimine clears stone in bulk, and the Mother Silverfish is one of the pack's custom bosses.

The world is cheap to generate and the machines are not. There is no surface terrain or structure spam to build, so exploring barely registers, but every pipe, drawer, AE2 network and ProjectE transmutation runs on the same tick. FTB Chunks force-loads claimed bases, so your factories keep running while everyone is asleep. That trade is the whole point of the pack, and it is why 6 GB is the floor here.

StoneBlock 3 suits groups who enjoy building factories next to each other and comparing throughput, and it treats newcomers better than most tech packs because the quest book never assumes you already know a mod. Keep bases apart so their force-loaded chunks do not overlap, push the ugliest automation inside Compact Machines, and claim only the area your group actually runs machines in.

Which Minecraft version does StoneBlock 3 use?

It stays on Minecraft 1.18.2 with Forge 40.2.34 and Java 17. StoneBlock 4 is a separate pack built on 1.21.1 and NeoForge, so saves do not move between the two and your players need a 1.18.2 instance to connect to this one.

How much RAM does a StoneBlock 3 server need?

Feed the Beast recommends 6 GB for StoneBlock 3, and that figure is the idle server, so a 6 GB plan has nothing spare. 8 GB is the size to buy, since the 2 GB stacked on top of the pack is worth ten player slots. 12 GB carries 30, or fewer players running much heavier factories.

Do our machines keep running when nobody is online?

FTB Chunks is in the pack, so claimed and force-loaded chunks keep ticking with the server empty, which is how overnight processing works. It is also the quickest way to spend tick time, so force-load only the chunks that actually hold machines.

How do you reach the Nether and the End underground?

StoneBlock 3 lays its biomes out in concentric rings around your spawn, so those dimensions are reached by tunnelling outward rather than by hunting across a surface. Digging is the exploration in this pack, which is why map pregeneration matters far less than it does elsewhere.

Does ProjectE unbalance a shared server?

ProjectE is included, so once one player has EMC generation running, raw resources stop mattering for the whole group. If you want that gated for a longer playthrough, the EMC values and transmutation recipes are editable with full file access before you open the server.

What happens to our base when the pack updates?

Feed the Beast ships StoneBlock 3 as point releases in the 1.11.x line, currently 1.11.6, and worlds carry across them, with the update itself being one click in the panel. The pack also bundles FTB Backups 2 next to the automatic backups on your plan.
